This index lists all the Human Concerns ministries (alphabetically) and provides a brief overview for each ministry.


AA

AA is a support group for men and women recovering from addiction. Meetings are on Sunday evenings at 8:30pm. Contact the Parish Office at 847-398-3362 or office@stedna.org


AL-Anon

AL-Anon is a support group for family members of those struggling with addiction. Meetings are on Thursday evenings at 7:30pm. For more details, please contact the Parish Office at 847-398-3362 or office@stedna.org.


Angels Prayer Network
Provides prayer support when someone is critically ill or experiencing acute trauma. With the person or family's permission, the Saint Edna Angels are notified by email to pray for this person and their family. Contact the Parish Office at 847-398-3362 or office@stedna.org.


Bereavement Ministers

Specially trained Bereavement Ministers meet with family members for support and to help plan the funeral liturgy here at Saint Edna. Bereavement Ministers lead the Vigil Prayers at the wake, guide and support the family through the funeral details and lead the committal service at the cemetery. Development Assistance Ministry

DAM is now a member of the Spring of Life Partnership, a group of seven local churches that work with Habitat for Humanity to create affordable housing for qualified families. Spring of Life has started its 16th home in Carpentersville.


Domestic Abuse Ministry


We are a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to raising awareness of what domestic abuse is, offering information on where to find help, and advocating for the prevention of domestic abuse in our community.


Drivers to St. James

Volunteers are recruited and scheduled to drive food from the Food Pantry to St. James on the third Sunday of each month.


Food Pantry


This program provides food to needy individuals and families in our St Edna community and our sharing parish, St. James in Chicago. We serve over 150 clients each month. Parishioners may volunteer to help with the St. Edna Pantry in two ways: By sorting and organizing the donations coming in and stocking the pantry shelves or by volunteering during Outreach hours to fill pantry orders for Outreach clients requesting food.


Funeral Sacristans

Funeral sacristans assist at funeral liturgies.


Gift of Love


This program provides food and gifts at Christmas time to those individuals and families who are most needy in our community and at our sharing parish, St. James in Chicago.


Knit and Crochet Ministry


Ministers make prayer shawls for the ill and infirm of our parish. The ministers pray for the recipient as they are making the shawl.


Ministry of Care

Communion and visitation to those in the home, hospital, or nursing home. Ministers of Care provide prayers and a communion service for those who are in the home, hospital, or nursing home who are unable to attend Mass.


Ministry of Praise

Ministers of Praise receive a letter one per month requesting prayers for the Church, and for the good of the world. If interested, contact the Parish Office at 847-398-3362 or office@stedna.org


Prison Ministry


The St Edna Prison Ministry initiates and supports projects that address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of inmates of Illinois correctional facilities, their families and their loved ones.


Respect Life Ministry


The goals of this ministry through various events and mediums will share the wisdom of the Catholic faith supporting a Culture of Life through education, public policy, pastoral care, prayer and worship and almsgiving representative of the many Respect Life issues.


Share Your Gift(Card)s


St. Edna's Share Your Gift (Cards) ministry collects cards from specific merchants for distribution to local needy families and individuals. Gift(Card)s will be donated to St. Joseph’s Home in Palatine, Family Forward (formerly Faith Community Homes) in Arlington Heights, and St. Edna Outreach.


St Edna Community Table


The St. Edna Outreach to the Poor Ministry has a formed a subsidiary ministry called St. Edna Community Table to welcome and serve all who seek nourishment and fellowship.


St. Edna Outreach


St. Edna Outreach ministers to those in need of emergency assistance. This assistance is made possible through the generosity of parishioners at St. Edna. Contact the Parish Office at 847-398-3362 or office@stedna.org
