DMI SURVEY UPDATE - September, 2023

Dear St. Edna Parishioners,

Recently I received the results of the Disciple Maker Index Survey which everyone in our Parish was invited to complete during the Lenten season earlier this year. Our next task is for the leadership of our Parish to carefully analyze the results of this important survey. This will be one of many tools that will help us to plan for our future and form some of the decisions that will be made to help build up the Body of Christ that is our Parish of St. Edna.

Thank you to the 313 of you who took the time to complete the DMI Survey either on-line or on paper. The survey asked for input on several aspects of faith and community life and how each one’s personal faith journey was supported by the Parish. Some of the initial findings are listed below:

Demographics:

  Of the respondents,

     69% were women; 72% of respondents were married;

63% of respondents have been in the Parish for over 20 years.

Favorable indicators include:

91% attend Mass at least weekly, if not more frequently.

90% believe the Eucharist really is the Body and Blood of Christ.

93% believe Sacred Scripture is the inspired Word of God.

96% feel it is easy to find information about the Parish via Bulletin, website, electronic Newsletter.

67% spend daily prayer time with God.

61% are growing in confidence to answer other’s questions about the Church’s Teachings.

78% feel they are growing as disciples of Jesus Christ.

79% would recommend the priests serving St. Edna to a friend.

Opportunities for growth include the following:

31% pray with another person outside of Mass.

21% attend a Retreat each year.

11% have invited a man to consider Priesthood.

9% have invited someone to consider a vocation to Religious Life.

The results of this survey show that we have many strengths, but also some opportunities for growth. Over the next year, our Staff and newly forming Leadership Team will not only be looking at the results of this survey in greater detail, but will also be formulating a plan to tackle some of these opportunities for growth with the hopes of reaching the ultimate goal of building a more personal and comfortable relationship  with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our work will connect with the spiritual renewal effort underway across the Archdiocese with the RENEW MY CHURCH process, and help us to prayerfully develop  realistic actions for the future.

Thanks again, to all those who assisted our Parish and me by filling out the Disciple Maker Index Survey.

           Fr. Darrio
