Greeters

greeters

Provide hospitality that creates a warm and welcoming environment for the members of the community prior to the Liturgy.

Formation

Adult members of our community are invited to join this ministry at any time throughout the year. Greeters will meet with the Greeting Ministry Coordinator prior to their first scheduled greeting date. At this time they will be provided with a document which includes a description of their role, suggested greeting statements, and tips they should remember when they are scheduled to greet. In addition, an annual Evening of Renewal is provided for all liturgical ministers to reflect on their role as a minister and a member of St. Edna's Catholic Community.

Expectations

Greeters need to be dependable, punctual, cheerful, and have good people skills. Those interested in serving will be scheduled one to two times a month, through our on-line scheduling program, Ministry Scheduler Pro. Greeters are expected to arrive at church 20 minutes prior to the start of liturgy. They will sign in and wear provided name badges. Greeters are one of the first people parishoners and visitors may encounter as they enter St. Edna. Greeters are there to facilitate a warm welcome, provided assistance as needed for members of the community, and coordinate with the Ushers when necessary. Greeters are expected to stay at their assigned post unitl the Presider has entered the Narthex. After returning their badges, they may join the assembly for liturgy.
