St. Edna Outreach

St. Edna Outreach ministers to the poor, the homeless, and those in need of emergency financial assistance. This assistance is made possible through the generosity of parishioners of St. Edna.

Outreach Ministry program description:

People seeking help may come to St. Edna during the following service hours, or call the office to be connected to the hotline.  We provide Jewel cards, gas vouchers and emergency financial assistance to those within our boundary.  Help from the food pantry is given to all who request it.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our service hours will be just Saturday from 9am to 11:45am.

We are always looking for compassionate people to serve as Outreach ministers.  We currently have 4 teams.   As a minister, you would serve one three-hour shift every four weeks.  Training is provided.  For those who work fulltime, we currently have a need for someone to serve on Saturdays.  If you are interested in serving as an Outreach minister let me know.

Bill Clark, President St. Edna Outreach

You can help.

During this first year of the Covid pandemic, Outreach has changed in many ways.  Our hours for assistance have been reduced from 4 days per week to one day.  Yet the number of people served has remained the same.  Housing the homeless in local motels has reduced our assistance to them.  Our protocols, serving clients outside of the building, has changed during the past year.

What has remained the same and perhaps increased over the year has been the need for food.  We thank you for your continued support with your food donations in the bins outside door 6.  With the help of a generous donation, we recently purchased a large, commercial refridgerator to allow us to begin keeping and offering perishable goods.  As you have seen in the bulletin, we are now collecting vegetables from our neighborhood gardens.  The produce is a big hit with our clients.

Thank you again for your generosity to the poor.  Please continue to pray for those less fortunate than ourselves.
