Biographical information about each of the members of the Pastoral Council

Who Are We

My name is Phil Blomeke. My wife (Allison) has been singing at St. Edna since 2010 and began directing the Children’s Choir in 2015. When we were married in November of 2016, we decided to make St. Edna our home parish. Everyone I’ve met here has been so welcoming, and I was instantly drawn to the multiple ministry opportunities available. Today, I am involved as a Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister and Snack Theater team member. Additionally, I am a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. As part of the Pastoral Council, I am a liaison to the Human Concerns Commission. I look forward to serving God and the people of St. Edna!

My name is Dominic Fernandes. My wife Sandy and two boys, Joshua and Daniel have been members of St. Edna’s parish since 2014. We love how welcoming the parish has been and the wealth of activities that occur in the parish in different areas. We greatly appreciate how the choir at St. Edna’s encourages the congregation to participate. My wife and I lector and our sons take part in the weekly religious education program. As a Parish Council member I look forward to helping the parish on its journey to make its vision a reality.

My name is Kathie Galvani.  My parents were original members of St. Edna’s when we moved to Arlington Heights in 1966 and I was very comfortable coming here when I returned to the area in 1989. I have been a part of the Gardening for God group for a number of years and I have been a helper catechist with the SPRED group for four years.  I have always found St. Edna’s to have a welcoming environment and I am happy to be part of parish committees that foster that environment. This is my first year on the Pastoral Council and I am a liaison to the Parish Life Committee.

My name is Steven Jabek.  I have been a parishioner at St. Edna since 1992 with my wife Beth.  We have three daughters Kathryn, Melissa and Emily.  I am an usher at the 5pm Saturday mass and was on the finance board from 1997 to 2003.

My name is Ajith Joseph. I, along with Surinder, my wife, Armaan (son) and Simran(daughter) have called St. Ednas our home parish since 2011.
We were drawn to St. Ednas from the first mass we attended here and to the numerous ministeries, that allow you to serve and feel a sense of belongingness to the parish.
Armaan is an Altar server and Simran is a part of the childrens choir. I love to serve in the Eucharistic Ministry and am honored to be a member of the Parish council.
I look forward to serving the Parish community of St. Edna.

My name is Emily Kopetsky. My husband Brett and I were married at St. Edna's in 2009 and are now raising our son here. We're  active in CFM, and I also serve as a lector.  This is my first year on the pastoral council, and I am a liason to the Human Concerns commission.

My name is Deb Krzeczowski. I became a parishioner at St. Edna’s in 2013 after moving back to the Arlington Heights area. I chose St. Edna as my parish because of the welcoming spirit I felt the first time I walked through the door. During my time at St. Edna I have been a member of WOSE and the Gardening for God ministry, I am a Sacristan, an Eucharistic Minister and I assisted in safely reopening the church during the pandemic.  I am an animal lover and am currently “Dog Mom” to my third rescue Golden Retriever, River. This is my first year as a member of the Pastoral Council and I look forward to serving the Parish Community.

I am Barb Long.  My husband and I have been parishioners at St. Edna more than 25 years.  We raised our two sons here from baptism, religious education, confirmation to adulthood.  When my children were young I volunteered with the Children's Liturgy.  In 2020 I joined the Reopening St. Edna team as a greeter/usher to help our parish through Covid-19 and continue to usher at the 11:30 mass.  I now look forward to offering my resources on the Pastoral Council.

I am Anne Mura.  I have been a member of St. Edna’s since 1985. In 1987 I became a lector and have been one ever since.  Since retiring I have been busy at the senior center as a Medicare counselor, a tax preparer and a teacher in the computer lab. During the years of 2014 to 2016 I was president of the women of St. Edna. For some years I have also been a sacristan. I  have been a member of the worship council for several years and will continue as a liaison while on the pastoral council.

I am Don Skiba.  My wife Joann and I have been parishioners of St. Edna for 25 years.  During that time we have been co-chairs of the Liturgy Commission, in charge of the sacristans and are Eucharistic Ministers.  We also started the parish variety show, Snack Theatre, for the parish’s 40th Anniversary and produced the next few shows.  I was also the Director of Liturgy for two years.  We were married here and St. Edna has always been a special place for us.

I am Deacon Joe Yannotta. My wife Diane and I have been members of St. Edna for 25 years. Our involvement in ministry began with Care Ministry and visiting and bring the Eucharist to nursing homes, hospitals and home bound individuals. My involvement in ministry lead me eventually to serve in our faith community as an ordained permanent deacon. Besides fulfilling my diaconate duties I am also involved in Bereavement Ministry, Prison Ministry, Care Ministry and serve on the Human Concerns Commission as well as the Parish Council.
